As a frequent flier, I’ve learned from experience that comfort, durability, and versatility are essential when choosing the best travel clothing brands. When shopping, I’m always looking for companies that offer a wide variety of high-quality, classic styles that aren’t necessarily trendy but rather timeless and practical for building a capsule wardrobe. 

With this in mind, the pieces should be comfortable, lightweight, breathable, and versatile enough to adapt to different travel scenarios. That way, no matter the occasion or destination, I can hit the ground running without stopping to change in my hotel room or, even worse, an airport restroom. With all this in mind, I combined my insight as a seasoned traveler with recommendations and vetted brands by Travel + Leisure editors to round up the best tried-and-true travel clothing brands to shop before your next trip.

Among our testers’ favorite Alo Yoga staples was the Foxy Sherpa Jacket, which was described as «plush and fluffy, but not too long or shaggy» and «so thick, warm, and cuddly.» Additional highlights include the zippered pockets for sufficient storage, the spacious and removable hood, and the high collar that can «snap with buttons at the neck, which is nice for warmth and not too constricting.» With all this in mind, it’s a must-have for cooler climates, as is the Airbrush Winter Warm High-waist Nocturne Legging, which stood out to our tester for its «very soft» fleece material, which «worked well at blocking wind and cold air.» We’d also be remiss not to mention the «flattering» compression and the thick, non-see-through material.

While you truly can’t go wrong with any Everlane pieces, we’re partial to the aptly named Dream Pant. Our tester found them to be «extremely comfortable» and «incredibly soft, smooth, and breathable.» They’re also ideal for year-round wear, with our tester noting, «They’re thick enough for cooler months (or chilly airports) but light enough to pair with a crop top in the summer without feeling too warm.» The front pockets were described as «spacious without looking bulky,» easily fitting essentials like a lip balm and wallet. Best of all, the pants can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion, thanks to their tapered leg, sleek black shade, and side seams, which look professional and chic in more formal settings. 

For more casual outings and everyday activities, dress the pants down by styling them with The Luxe Rib Scoop-neck Tee, which offers an ultra-soft, fine-rib cotton construction with just a hint of stretch. T+L senior editor Jackie Cucco described it as «so soft and lightweight, so I don’t get overheated like I would in a long-sleeve sweater.» She also appreciated its versatility, saying, «It’s polished enough to wear out to dinner or the office when you want something more elevated than a plain white tee.» Plus, it comes in a slew of color and pattern options in standard and extended sizes 1X to 3X. Other Quince tops we love include the Cotton Modal Scoop Neck T-shirt, Merino Wool Collared Cable Cardigan, and Mongolian Cashmere Crewneck Sweater.

Dresses like the 100 percent Washable Silk Slip Dress are also ideal for travel since they’re great for layering and offer maximum comfort with minimal restriction compared to pants. Available in both standard and extended sizes, this particular pick is popular for its 100 percent mulberry silk construction, which is machine-washable for easy care. While undeniably comfortable, T+L associate editor Anna Popp loved how polished they looked compared to traditional sweatpants, noting their resemblance to stylish trousers with cuffed ankles.
