Some shoes claim to be slip-ons, but you still have to bend down to adjust the heel or get them fully on your foot. This is not the case with The Kizik Athens 2, which we were able to fully pop on and off our feet with no hands whatsoever. This is the newer design of Kizik’s older Athens style and features a heel stabilizer and a rocker sole for balance and stability. We think they have great arch support, with foam insoles, as well as a breathable mesh material—though that gives them a sporty look that may not work for dressier occasions.

Our T+L team tested 93 pairs of sneakers in everyday and travel scenarios to assess comfort, fit, quality, support, and value. We tested each pair on various surfaces, from pavement to dirt and grass, to evaluate their performance in real-world situations. We paid close attention to how true-to-size the shoes were, as well as any discomfort, such as rubbing, chafing, or pinching.

We also evaluated how quickly it took to break in each pair, in addition to the level of traction and support they provided. We examined the versatility of each pair, considering whether they were suitable for various occasions and purposes.
