Out of all the Delsey suitcases we tested, the Chatelet Air 2.0 Carry-on 21-inch Spinner was a clear favorite. The TSA-compliant carry-on boasts ample packing room, numerous compartments for organization, compression straps to facilitate easy packing, a convenient USB charging port, and more. Beyond the bag’s beautiful, vintage-inspired construction—it channels a refined, French elegance—it features durable hardware, with smooth zippers that never snagged, even when we overpacked the suitcase during our tests. After six months of travels, it did get a bit scuffed up due to gate checks, but we loved how effortlessly it glided and spun on all types of flooring.

For a standard carry-on, we found that there was plenty of room to pack everything we’d need for a four-day trip, even without an expander. We packed Delsey’s Chatelet Air 2.0 24-inch spinner with a week’s worth of clothes and still had ample room to add more items. The generous 69-liter capacity is perfect for anyone jetting off on a long vacation without being overly bulky, and there are several internal compartments to help keep you organized on the go. We loved that both sides feature a zippered pocket and compression straps, which help to maximize packing space. Both sides also feature zippered dividers, which allow you to stash toiletries and shoes separately. A laundry bag, shoe bag, and hanger are included as well. Over six months, we checked this bag six times, including on a long-haul international flight, and it only shows minor scuffing that can be removed with a bit of cleaning.

When the bag was packed to capacity, the weight was a bit more noticeable when we rolled it on four wheels; we found that the weight was distributed more evenly on two wheels, and it rolled smoothly at all times. We also found that the polycarbonate shell can withstand a solid rough-and-tumble at baggage claim, as the suitcase bounced back instantly (and without a scratch!) after we threw it off a ladder and hit it epeatedly with a baseball bat.

We were impressed with how effortless it was to maneuver this checked bag given its size—we spun it around rapidly on carpets and floors alike and found quick turns were a breeze. The double spinner wheels moved smoothly on various terrains and felt incredibly sturdy when pulled on both two and four wheels. While many checked bags can feel top-heavy or difficult to lift once fully packed, we found this one had top-notch weight distribution and was easy to hoist up thanks to the soft grip top and side handles.

Overpackers or those packing bulkier pieces for cooler climates will appreciate the immense capacity of this relatively lightweight bag, which is only 2 pounds heavier than the 24-inch spinner yet boasts nearly twice the capacity. We were able to stash everything we needed for a week and had room for several more outfits, thanks to the dual-zippered compartments and internal compression straps. The included shoe bag is also wildly spacious—we were able to fit three pairs inside. Crucially, when we tested this piece for durability, we found that it was absolutely pristine after we jumped on it, hit it with a bat, and dropped it from a ladder—so we feel confident it will fare well at baggage claim. Even after six months of travel, the bag is still rolling beautifully, and all hardware and fabric is in great shape.

If you prefer to travel with softside luggage, this was our top pick as a softside carry-on. We appreciated its padded front flap that’s lined with a zippered pocket large enough to fit a laptop or a tablet and a smaller zippered pocket that you can use to store loose cables. The flap opens like a lid, and the interior features one deep space with enough room to pack a long weekend’s worth of clothes. Inside, you’ll find a discreet AirTag holder, a compression strap, a long zippered pocket, and a large zippered pocket (with a small pocket on it) lining the carry-on’s flap.

While the suitcase’s polyester material experienced some scuffs after a couple of rounds with a baseball bat (which could likely be washed out with some soap and water), it overall didn’t suffer much damage. Its zippers, while sturdy, didn’t glide very smoothly, and we thought its four 360-degree spinner wheels could maneuver a little better. Despite these minor flaws, however, the suitcase’s crowning feature is, without a doubt, its price—it’s one of the most affordable suitcases on this list. Considering its 41-liter capacity, plenty of pockets, and additional details including TSA-approved locks, external USB port, and expandable sides, we think it’s a fair price for an attractive bag.

An (extra) large counterpart to the carry-on version above, this softside expandable checked suitcase impressed us with its lightweight and spacious design. Similar to the carry-on version, the suitcase has one cavernous compartment featuring a compression strap and a discreet AirTag holder, and it can easily fit up to two weeks' worth of bulky clothes—and that's without factoring in its expandable sides. There's a wraparound pocket and a smaller mesh pocket on the inside of the suitcase's flap that's ideal for storing smaller essentials like undergarments and socks.

Its large external zippered pocket (which also has a smaller zippered pocket on it) is deep enough to store laptops, tablets, extra cables, and more. Considering its 106-liter capacity, the suitcase still feels pretty light at 9.5 pounds, and we appreciated how easy it was to maneuver even when fully packed. Its handle has two heights and felt very sturdy, even when we needed to exert just a little more effort on pulling it across certain flooring like cement and carpet. Our only gripe is its zippers, which, despite feeling very durable, did not glide the smoothest.

Weighing in at just 5.7 pounds, this carry-on spinner is the lightest option on this list. We were initially a little skeptical about how much we could fit in this small bag but found it to be surprisingly spacious with a good amount of give. This made it possible to pack a lot and still close the bag with minimal effort. There is only one internal pocket, so it may take a little more effort to organize everything. «This is a very stylish, minimalist carry-on bag that could be great for airlines with stricter size limits,» says Travel + Leisure associate editor Anna Popp, adding, «Travelers would like how simple and durable it is for any type of trip.»

Although this bag isn't hefty, it feels strong. It didn't scratch or dent at all during our durability tests, which seemed to be in part due to the flexibility of the shell. The bag also rolled smoothly on various terrains, whether on two wheels or four. The adjustable handle jiggled a bit more than we would have liked but still felt sturdy overall. After using the suitcase over the course of three months, we noticed that the interior lining started shedding a bit, but we haven't found any rips or tears.

During testing, we were most impressed with how heavy-duty this bag was, from its sturdy ABS and polycarbonate shell and its reinforced corners to its dual-traction wheels designed to take on any terrain. The trunk is incredibly spacious, and we found we could easily fit several weeks of clothing and supplies. It also features an expander if you need even more room or are transporting bulky gear. «This is really an overpacker’s dream with endless amounts of space,» says T+L senior editor Lydia Price, who tested this bag.

While it's no surprise this trunk is quite large, we didn't find it too heavy or bulky to transport. We found that it is a similar weight to the average checked bag we've tested, and we had no issues maneuvering it over various terrains. That being said, the wheels of this bag are built for adventure travel, so they don't roll quite as smoothly over smooth airport floors as a standard Delsey suitcase would. All of the zippers worked well and while the handle only goes up to one height, it felt exceptionally stable. The trunk also passed all of our durability tests with flying colors—while it acquired a few scuff marks after we hit it with a bat and dragged it along the concrete, these were easily wiped away to make it look new again. If you like the rugged look of this adventure-ready trunk, we think it's an excellent investment for keeping your gear safe at a fair price point.

It comes with two bags: a Carry-on Plus and a large checked option. Both bags are on the larger side for their respective categories, with the carry-on plus measuring 22.75 inches tall and the large spinner measuring 31.25 inches tall, and both are expandable.

These luggage pieces feature the same internal design, with a 50/50 clamshell opening. One half features a large open space with adjustable compression straps, while the other has a zippered divider with a zippered mesh pocket and a wet/dry pocket inside. Each set also includes a toolbox with spare wheels and a screwdriver, which we thought was a nice detail. Although the bags are a bit heavy when empty, their 360-degree wheels roll smoothly and make the suitcases easy to maneuver. Boasting a 132.5-liter capacity—the largest suitcase on this list—this expandable, hardside suitcase impressed us with how light, durable, and spacious it is. Clocking in at just 10 pounds, the checked bag opens evenly like a clamshell and features an internal compression strap and a wraparound zippered pocket with a smaller mesh pocket on it. Inside, we were able to pack for almost two weeks’ worth of bulky clothes without having to use its expanding sides.

While we weren’t blown away by its internal storage features and wish there were a few more organizational pockets, we did appreciate how smoothly its zippers ran and how durable the polypropylene exterior felt. The suitcase survived a few rounds with our baseball bat virtually unscathed, seeming to absorb the blows, and we think it’ll be able to withstand the wear and tear of travel for years to come. The luggage’s four dual spinner wheels glided pretty effortlessly, even when fully packed, although it did snag easily on carpet. The handle also felt sturdy and comfortable to pull. If you're an overpacker or someone who packs for multiple people in one suitcase, this is the bag for you.

Durable luggage no longer has to mean hefty or bulky, thanks to this sleek polycarbonate spinner from Delsey that features a useful expander to add extra space if you need it. We were pleasantly surprised by how rugged this spinner was, given its remarkably lightweight construction. The smooth shell stood up exceptionally well to all of our durability tests, and was easy to maneuver on all sorts of terrain. The wheels moved just as smoothly whether we rolled the bag on all four wheels or pulled it on just two, and we were able to make razor-sharp turns with ease even when it was fully packed.

We appreciated extra features like a USB port and a power bank sleeve (the power bank is not included) so we could charge our devices on the go. While there aren’t any pockets or dividers beyond the primary two compartments—one of which features compression straps, and the other a mesh zippered divider—we found there was ample capacity to pack all of our clothes, with even more packing space once you use the expander.
